Mommy + Me + Words of Life

I often wish I could call my mom and ask her what I was like as a child. Was I fearless or a good friend-maker? Was I shy? Or maybe I was brave in unique ways. I wish I could ask her what I loved to do when I was little….what made my eyes light up.

I have found ways to ask her even though she is in Heaven. I look through old photos of the two of us. I have found old letters and small projects she had made for me that share some insights. And know what I do with those?

Cling to them.

This week, we hosted a sweet event where moms and daughters could discover happy together. We ate delicious treats and drank drinks with cotton candy in them. (Smile!) We made flower crowns and laughed when they didn’t turn out quite right but we enjoyed our time together anyway. We took photos and soaked in the moment – because that moment – it was full of good.

One of the sweet activities we did together was speak words of life over each other. Moms and daughters used this sheet to color and fill in with words that remind them of the other.

For my oldest I chose creative and driven.

For my middle I chose brave and a cuddlebug.

For my baby I chose energy and passion.

And then I let them choose words for me.

What if you took sometime this week to intentionally speak words of life over someone in your family? And what if you took it a step further and asked them to speak words of life over you?

Use these sheets if you have a daughter in your life or feel free to make your own.

And as you think and ponder, let me remind you what God thinks of you:

You are the apple of His eye. You are the love of His love. And you make Him smile. He really, really likes you.
